Common Nouns are words for people, animals, plants, things and places. Proper nouns are names for particular people, places or things. คำนาม หมายถึง คำที่ใช้เรียกชื่อ คน สัตว์ พืช สิ่งของ สถานที่

Countable Noun หมายถึง คำนามที่สามารถนับจำนวนได้แน่นอนตั้งแต่หนึ่งขึ้นไป
Uncountable Noun หมายถึง คำนามที่ไม่สามารถนับจำนวนได้แน่นอน ส่วนมากอยู่ในรูปของเหลว หรือมีปริมาณมาก

Nouns can be singular or plural. Use a singular noun for when you are talking about one thing or person. Use a plural noun when you are talking about two or more people, places or things. คำนามเอกพจน์ หมายถึง คำนามนับได้ที่มีจำนวนเพียงหนึ่ง คำนามพหูพจน์ หมายถึง คำนามนับได้ที่มีจำนวนมากกว่าหนึ่ง

GROUP 1 – For most nouns, just add “s” to make it plural คำนามส่วนมาก เติม  s  ที่รูปเอกพจน์เมื่อต้องการรูปพหูพจน์

 

GROUP 2 – For nouns ending in o, ch, s, ss, sh, x, z you must add “es” คำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย  o, ch, s, ss, sh, x,  และ z  ต้องเติม  es

 

GROUP 3 – Nouns ending in “y” and proceeded with a consonant, change “y” to “i” and add “es” คำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย  y โดยอักษรที่นำหน้า  y  เป็นรูปพยัญชนะต้องเปลี่ยน y  เป็น  i  ก่อนเติม  es เช่น

 

But nouns ending in “y” and proceeded by a vowel, you just add “s” แต่คำนามที่ลงท้ายด้วย  y  โดยอักษรที่นำหน้า  y  เป็นรูปสระ  ให้เติม  s  เช่น

 

GROUP 4 – Some nouns change their spelling for plurals คำนามต่อไปนี้มีรูปพหูพจน์เฉพาะ เช่น

a แปลว่า หนึ่ง ใช้นำหน้าคำนามเอกพจน์ที่นับได้ ออกเสียงเป็นพยัญชนะ  เช่น  a dog, a cat, a bird
an แปลว่า หนึ่ง ใช้นำหน้าคำนามเอกพจน์ที่นับได้ ออกเสียงเป็นสระ  a, e, i, o, u  เช่น  an ant, an egg

is , am , are มีความหมายว่า เป็น อยู่ คือ
คำนามเอกพจน์ (Singular Nouns) ใช้กริยา is
คำนามพหูพจน์ (Plural Nouns) ใช้กริยา are

การทำประโยคบอกเล่า ให้เป็นประโยคปฏิเสธ ทำได้โดยการนำคำว่า not มาวางไว้หลัง is , am , are เช่น

I am not a doctor. หรือ I’m not a doctor.  ผมไม่เป็นหมอ
She is not a nurse. หรือ She isn’t a nurse.  เธอไม่เป็นนางพยาบาล
It is not a dog. หรือ It isn’t a dog. มันไม่เป็นสุนัข
They are not students.  หรือ They aren’t students. พวกเขาไม่เป็นนักเรียน
You are not my friend. หรือ You aren’t my friends. คุณไม่เป็นเพื่อนของฉัน

การทำประโยคบอกเล่า ให้เป็นประโยคคำถาม ทำได้โดยการนำ Is , Am , Are มาวางไว้หน้าประโยค และเติมเครื่องหมายคำถาม (?) ไว้ท้ายประโยค เช่น

Are you my friend? คุณเป็นเพื่อนของฉันใช่ไหม
Is it a black cat? มันเป็นแมวสีดำใช่ไหม
Are they students? พวกเขาเป็นนักเรียนใช่ไหม

Yes / No Question คือประโยคคำถามที่ต้องการคำตอบว่า Yes หรือ No เวลาออกเสียงท้ายประโยคจะต้องออกเสียงสูงขึ้น

การตอบคำถามแบบ Yes/No Question จะมี 3 แบบ ตามลักษณะของรูปประโยคคำถาม คือ
1. ถ้าประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Verb to be (is, am, are) เวลาตอบก็ต้องใช้ Verb to be

เช่น Is Andy a doctor? —> Yes, he is. หรือ No, he isn’t.
Are you Mr. White?  —> Yes, I am. หรือ No, I’m not.

2. ถ้าประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วยคำกริยาช่วย (Can) เวลาตอบ ก็ต้องใช้คำกริยาช่วย เช่น Can you speak English? —> Yes, I can. หรือ No, I can’t

Can Tony swim? —> Yes, he can. หรือ No, he can’t.

3. ถ้าประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Verb to do (do, does) เวลาตอบก็ต้องใช้ Verb to do เช่น Does he speak English? —> Yes, he does. หรือ No, he doesn’t.
Do you drink coffee? —> Yes, I do. หรือ No, I don’t.

*** หากต้องการตอบใช่  ให้ตอบ Yes  ถ้าไม่ใช่ ให้ตอบ No

*** นำประธานของประโยคคำถามนั้นมาใช้เป็นประธานในประโยคคำตอบ ยกเว้นว่า ประธานในประโยคคำถามเป็น You ให้ใช้ I เป็นประธานในประโยคคำตอบ เช่น

A: Are you a student?
B: Yes, I am.

A: Can you swim?
B: No, I can’t.

*** กรณีที่ You ซึ่งเป็นประธานในประโยคคำถามหมายถึง พวกคุณ ให้ใช้ We เป็นประธานของประโยคคำตอบ เช่น

A: Are you students?
B: Yes, we are.

Pronoun (คำสรรพนาม) คือคำที่ใช้แทนคำนามเพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงการกล่าวถึงซ้ำหรือแทนสิ่งที่รู้กันอยู่แล้วระหว่างผู้พูดและผู้ฟัง   หรือแทนสิ่งของที่ยังไม่รู้ หรือไม่แน่ใจว่าเป็นอะไร   ซึ่งในระดับนี้จะกล่าวถึงการใช้  Personal Pronoun

( บุรุษสรรพนาม )  ได้แก่ I, you, we, he , she ,it, they

โครงสร้าง Subject + Verb 1 (ประธานเอกพจน์ กริยาเติม s , es)

หลักเกณฑ์การเติม s , es ที่คำกริยา เมื่อประธานเป็นเอกพจน์ มีดังนี้

1. คำกริยาโดยทั่วไปสามารถเติม  s  ได้เลย เช่น

walk = walks
sleep = sleeps
drink = drinks
eat = eats
jump = jumps

2.  ถ้าคำกริยาลงท้ายด้วย  o, s, x, z, ch, sh  ให้เติม  es  เช่น

kiss = kisses
brush = brushes
watch = watches
fix = fixes
go = goes
buzz = buzzes

3.  ถ้าคำกริยาลงท้ายด้วย  y  ให้เปลี่ยน  y  เป็น  i  ก่อน แล้วจึงเติม  es  เช่น

fly = flies
cry = cries
study = studies

แต่ถ้าหน้า  y  เป็นสระ (a, e, i, o, u) ให้เติม  s  ได้เลย เช่น

buy = buys
play = plays
